Putters Wanted

Help us to pull and push the medieval wagon stages!

We’re still not completely sure if we’ll be doing our productions on mobile wagon stages, as our medieval predecessors did — more news there soon!

But for now we DEFINITELY need to recruit some strong volunteers (anyone who generally can lift and carry a 40-pound backpack, or kid, without injury is good to go!) to help our play cast members physically drag their wagon stages from location to location.

Medieval English players called their pulling crew “putters.” And while most of our pulling will be done by cast members, we need volunteer putters to help them! We’re asking volunteer putters to sign up for three-hour chunks of time, starting at 5:45am on the performance date.

IMPORTANT!!!: All of the time-slots below are for volunteers to commit to showing up at their start-time, on the BURWASH QUAD at the UNIVERSITY OF TORONTO (find us at 93 Charles Street, just east of the Bader Theatre), on Saturday June 7 — AND to showing up, if necessary, on Sunday June 8 instead (in case it rains on the 7th!). If you can’t reliably attend for your full time-slot on BOTH days (we’ll only need you for one, but we need you to be available for both), please do not volunteer.

But if you can — and if you’re strong enough — please consider signing up for more than one session! Every putter will still get to see most of the plays, but will get to know certain plays especially well. (We can’t guarantee which plays will be running at exactly which time and we can’t meet requests to volunteer except during the full 3-hour chunks specified below.)

Participating play casts will generally provide a few hands of their own to help pull the wagon.
These volunteer putters will help them with the pulling.
